Whats your Occupation ?

by let's OT

Nearly a century ago, Susan Tracy, one of the founders of occupational therapy in Morth America, sent a greeting card to another ocupational therapist, Jennie K Allen. On the front of the card was a beautiful watercolour painting of a bluebird perched on the branch of a blossoming tree. On the back of the card, Tracy wrote, ” Done without help by a patient sent from (the psychiatrist)0 tagged, “Not able to concentrate at all”.

The point tracy was making in her brief story about the watercolor (pictured on the cover) continues to lie at the heart of occupational therapy practice and the field’s understanding of its therapeutic tool : OCCUPATION

Thus we all have certain occupations which we enjoy participating in, which brings the best within us.

The Occupation that brings the best out from me……

Mitali Kamat, Occupational therapy Intern posted this picture as her favorite occupation . she mentioned a Quote ‘

” Often while reading a book one feels that the author would have preferred to paint rather than write; one can sense the pleasure he derives from describing a landscape or a person, as if he were painting what he is saying, because deep in his heart he would have preferred to use brushes and colors.”

Phinoj Abraham, Occupational therapist from chennai posted this picture from his home town Kerela….
